After leading the Colorado Buffaloes to a 5-7 record in his first and ONLY season, Mel Tucker is leaving the Black and Gold for Michigan State green. The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman first reported news of Tucker’s departure late Tuesday night via twitter.
BREAKING: #CU coach Mel Tucker has agreed in principle to become the new head coach at #MichiganState, per sources. After Tucker turned down initial interest, MSU power brokers came back repeatedly to Tucker’s reps w/ an offer that was impossible to ignore https://t.co/qjOH0qKirQ

The news comes just four days after Tucker reaffirmed his commitment to Colorado via twitter, in response to a Detroit Free Press report that Michigan State was expected to interview him for their head coach vacancy. “While I am flattered to be considered for the HC job @MSU_football, I am committed to @CUBuffsFootball for #TheBuild of our program, its great athletes, coaches & supporters,” Tucker tweeted.

While I’m flattered to be the HC of @CUBuffsFootball I am an OPPORTUNIST every minute of the day. I am only COMMITTED to me, myself and I. #TheBuild of my wallet. #itsjustbusiness https://t.co/esNI37lwIp

My Main Man! Roar!!! We all say travel welll to @Coach_mtucker. Life is too short to cry over spilled milk. Let’s pick up the pieces and move on. @CUBuffsFootball was not his dream job, plus the money was over the top. We have to find a brilliant, energetic and charismatic CU man https://t.co/BXZuayauxL

Unbelievable that the Buffs are back to ground zero. The ink hasn’t even dried from signing day with all those kids that committed to Tucker.

Tucker handled this about as poorly as possible.

MEL TUCKER IS A CON MAN! He recruited my grandson to go to CU said he wasn’t going anywhere then ups and leaves. Sat there and lied to my face he wasn’t going anywhere!

So I want to beat him up today on social media.
