The Pac-12 conference released the game times and television scheduling for 43 games next season on Thursday. Among the early season games the Colorado Buffaloes will be featured on a national network telecast four times. This includes the Buffs season opener against the Colorado State Rams on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. being carried by CBS Sports Network.
ABC picked up the coverage of the renewed home and home rivalry between CU and the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, Neb on Saturday, Sept. 8. The one-time Big 7, 8 and 12 foes meet for the first time since splitting to the Pac-12 and Big Ten respectfully in 2011. This marks the first non-conference meeting between the schools in 111 years (1907). The last time Colorado played on ABC in a national format was on Sept. 24, 2011 with a 37-17 loss to Ohio State. Nebraska will be the second “Power 5” opponent the Buffs have face in non-conference play in coach Mike MacIntyre’s tenure (both from Big Ten - 2016: at Michigan, 45-28 loss)
CU’s home opener on Saturday, Sept. 15 against FCS opponent New Hampshire Wildcats will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network. It will be the longest distance an opponent has traveled to play at Folsom Field with a total of 2,044 miles; beating out the University of Massachusetts by 128 miles after a cross county hop of 1,916 miles in 2015.
Two games on Colorado’s Pac-12 schedule were decided as well, starting with a Friday night lights primetime affair in Boulder with the UCLA Bruins on Sept 28. at 7 p.m. MT on Fox Sports 1. The Friday, Nov. 2 matchup with the Arizona Wildcats was also picked up by FS1 with an 8:30 p.m. MT kickoff from the desert of Tucson.
All remaining games are on the selection menu of the Pac-12’s television partners, ESPN-ABC, FOX Sports/FS-1 and the Pac-12 Networks, with arrangements announced usually 12 days in advance, though on occasion it can be as few as six days.
Tickets for all seven of CU’s in-state games (Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver and six at Folsom Field) go on sale Monday, June 25. They will be available at on-line at CUBuffs.com, in-person at the athletic ticket office in CU’s Champions Center, or by phone (303-492-8337).
