Addison Gillam ends career with the Colorado Buffaloes

The veteran linebacker has hung up his cleats.

Well, Addison Gillam has finally finished his illustrious career with the Buffaloes. The hints starting dropping when he posted this GoFundMe page. Obviously, this is an NCAA violation, meaning that his NCAA eligibility has ended. Gillam confirmed it in this Buffzone article. He has struggled with major injuries the past two years, and he was in-pain every time he stepped on to the football field. While I’ll miss seeing crazy 44 out there, he has to decide what’s best for him and preserve his long-term health.

Addison burst onto the scene his freshman year, and really was the first sign of hope for the Mike MacIntyre era. He racked up a crazy amount of tackles, 119, and was the first CU freshman EVER to lead the team in tackles. Gillam was dominant in the Pac-12 at a time when CU was at its lowest point as a program. Since then, he has shown flashes of his dominant self, but he was slowed by injuries.

We wish Addison the absolute best in everything he does, and thank him for the joy and ferocity he brought to the field.
