Dear Seniors,
This is it. Today marks the final time you’ll walk out of that tunnel in Boulder, shoulder-to-shoulder beside your brothers, your teammates. The last time you’ll charge onto Folsom Field led by the greatest mascot in all of college athletics. Who would’ve thought this day would ever come? It’s certainly been a rollercoaster of a ride. Four years in what probably seems like a blink of an eye.
“They've brought the pride back,” head coach Mike MacIntyre said of the Buffaloes seniors. “What they've done is made us extremely competitive and be able to keep moving on from there and be a competitive program."
A big THANK YOU to running back Phillip Lindsay, the ‘Tasmanian devil,’ a player who epitomizes what it means to be a Colorado Buffalo. To wide receivers Devin Ross, Bryce Bobo and ‘Big Play’ Shay Fields, man it was fun watching you play. To Afolabi Laguda, Derek McCartney, Jeromy Irwin and ‘Mr. Versatile’ George Frazier, your work ethic, selflessness and leadership will always be remembered.
‘The pride of the Colorado Buffaloes will not be entrusted to the timid or the weak’
For four years, you were entrusted and you certainly delivered. But 60 minutes remain. 60 minutes before your final fight at Folsom comes to an end. So, go out there and do something that no Colorado Buffaloes team has ever done before, BEAT USC. You’ve come so close, losing by a combined seven points (21-17 in 2016; 27-24 in 2015) the last two years. Who cares if you’re two touchdown underdogs against the Pac-12 South leading Trojans (8-2, 6-1 Pac-12)? BEAT THE ODDS! So, what if you’re facing Sam Darnold, a sure-fire first round NFL Draft pick. And tailback Ronald Jones, who has rushed for 410 yards in his last two Pac-12 contests.
It’s NOT going to be easy, but if there’s one thing you’ve learned, anything is possible.
Now go out there and WIN your final fight at Folsom.
THANK YOU to all 21 seniors who will be honored at today’s home finale against USC.
THANK YOU for all you’ve done for this program.
Sincerely,
A Colorado Buffaloes fan
