Rejoice, CU fans. The date and opponents of the Colorado Buffaloes conference schedule, and the entire schedule for that matter, was released by the Pac-12 Conference this morning, and it sets up strangely for the Buffs.

A few things to look at in that schedule. Number 1, the Buffs don’t leave the state of Colorado until (essentially) October. The first four games are all at home, with the CSU game still occurring in Denver, unfortunately. CU can go 4-0 or 3-1 in that first stretch, which is a great sign.
Number 2, the home conference schedule is a mix of underdog and favorite games. Folsom is bookended by games with Washington and USC, the two prohibitive division favorites in the Conference of Champions, but in the meat of the schedule, the Buffs go up against a rebuilding Cal and a teetering Arizona. If the Buffs can pull upsets, CU has a chance to go undefeated at home.
Number three, the bye week comes very late for the Buffs. After the Buffs play the Trojans, CU has a week off before they travel to Salt Lake City. That hampers the effectiveness of the bye week, as it only helps prepare for the Utah “rivalry” game and the bowl game afterwards. Still better than having no bye week like two years ago. The road games are interesting and should all be tough outs for the Buffs. It’s a fun schedule, get ready for another fun year!
