We can stop wondering now (but do still keep asking Koenigsberg if Webb is coming to CU) because it looks like Texas Tech graduate transfer quarterback Davis Webb will be heading to Berkeley instead of Boulder.
Have been able to confirm former Texas Tech QB Davis Webb will not be transferring to #CUBuffs like he originally planned. He is Cal bound.

The quarterback situation has been on the minds of fans all offseason, starting with the news of Sheriron Jones heading to Colorado and then subsequently.... not. When Webb committed it looked like Mike MacIntyre would have a great option to take the reins if (and maybe either way) Sefo Liufau was not ready in time for the start of the season. Ever since rumors started that Webb may be looking around after verbally committing to CU, fans started to worry that it may not happen.
However, Will Whelan, in one of his first posts after taking over BSN Denver Colorado coverage (welcome back, Will!), highlighted today why it won't be the end of the world for the Buffaloes.
Montez is a slinger, much like Webb, with the size and strength to take a hit behind an offensive line that might cause him to have more painful Sunday mornings than not. Perhaps all he needs is one series under the bright lights before locking in and becoming the quarterback that many both inside and outside the program believe he has a chance to be. Something like that could surely ease the pain of losing your desired QB target.
This stinks but at least we, and more importantly the Colorado coaching staff, know and we can move on. Follow the lead of Darrin Chiaverini and look forward to a future without Davis Webb in the black and gold.
College Football is about young people. Let's not forget that as coaches and fans! pic.twitter.com/AI8dJSKGOJ
