Coach Mike MacIntyre has dismissed quarterback Cade Apsay and safety Evan White from the team, he announced during his press conference today. Neither player has elected to transfer as of now, and both remain enrolled in school.
Apsay, a redshirt freshman, spent last season as the backup behind Sefo Liufau. Following Liufau's season ending foot injury, Apsay stepped into the starting role. In five games, he was 59-92 with three touchdowns and five interceptions. Before joining the Buffs, he was rated as a three star prospect by 247 Sports and 33rd at quarterback in the state of California.
Evan White is a Colorado native who was also a member of the 2014 recruiting class. A graduate of Cherokee Trail High School, he was rated as a three star prospect. In 11 games across two seasons for CU, White recorded 28 solo tackles. After appearing in eight games his freshman season, he appeared in just three in 2015.
In addition, Coach MacIntyre announced that sophomore offensive tackle Connor Center has retired from football and is no longer with the team.
White and Apsay join linebacker Grant Watanabe as the three players from the 2014 recruiting class that have left the program this offseason.
