Days one through six of the 2014 Colorado Buffaloes fall camp is in the books and thoughts, photos, and videos are starting to trickle in.
Neinas approached MacIntyre and asked for the green light to pursue a junior college snapper. He got it, looking first to the south and Smith, who "was real obvious," Neinas said. "From the first ten guys we watched, his ball was much sharper, much more accurate. This was the guy . . . and he had a little bit bigger body (6-2, 235)."
"They played through it today," MacIntyre said. "Today was the day I thought would be the toughest, I thought we would have to pull teeth because they’re writing papers and doing exams today so they have the combination of camp and that. I thought they’ve been pushing through that pretty well."
CU football: Notes from Buffs' Aug. 8 practice - Buffzone
MacIntyre said the Buffs will scrimmage in Folsom Field despite the construction ongoing there on Saturday morning. "I think it just changes the atmosphere and I like getting in there," he said.
Kyle Ringo Blog: Musings from Practice No. 7 - Buffzone
And finally, this team doesn't have a lot of offensive linemen with experience, but it does have a lot of offensive linemen who look like they're Pac-12 caliber players. Plenty of young guys will get experience this year and I can see this group being much less of a question mark at this time next year.
CU football: Jonathan Huckins, Sam Kronshage battling for playing time - Buffzone
Huckins said the misfortune of a teammate helped him progress faster than he might have otherwise. He said when Marc Mustoe suffered a season-ending injury last season, he was added to the travel squad and stopped practicing with the scout team. The extra time practicing in CU's offense gave him a head start on this season.
Jack Graham fired as CSU athletic director - The Denver Post
Colorado State University president Tony Frank on Friday announced the firing of athletic director Jack Graham, saying it had become clear the two men had irreconcilable differences of opinion about the direction of the department.
CU football: Nelson Spruce likely to be Buffs' go-to receiver - Buffzone
"Yeah, I think I can be the leading guy," Spruce said. "I'm not going to be able to do the same things down the field (as Richardson). He just had a different level of speed that is just freaky. Not one guy is going to replace Paul, but we're super deep this year and we're going to have more guys making plays as opposed to just one big playmaker."
