University of Colorado senior punter Darragh O'Neill and senior cornerback Greg Henderson have been invited to play in the 90th East-West Shrine Game, January 17th at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Henderson accepted the invitation almost immediately after the season. He hails from Norco High School in Corona, California, and started 44 of 47 career games as a Buff. A leader in the locker room, he finished the 2014 season with 48 tackles, 11 pass deflections and a sack.
O'Neill was originally a walk-on from hometown Fairview High School in Boulder. The team voted him special teams player of the year, as he was the Buffs punter all four years of his career joining Stan Koleski (1973-76) and Matt DiLallo (2006-09) as the only players in school history to lead the team in punting for four seasons.
O'Neill also is first all-time at Colorado with 281 career punts, first in yardage with 12,001 and is the career leader in punts inside-the-20 and inside-the-10.
The East-West Shrine Game has been played since 1925 and attracts dozens of NFL Scouts each year. It will also be broadcasted nationally from the NFL Network and proceeds will go towards the Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa, Florida.
