Colorado's Cinderella run in the Pac-12 Tournament came to end in the Semifinals against Cal with a 68-55 loss.
The Buffs took a 12-3 lead early, but Cal ratcheted up the pressure and switched to a half-court zone defense to force CU into multiple turnovers. The Golden Bears capitalized on the 16 turnovers committed by the Buffs' offense by pushing the ball in transition.
Colorado attempted to pack the paint and force Cal to shoot three-pointers, but Brittany Boyd's penetration and Reshanda Gray's post play proved too much for CU's defense to handle. Boyd scored 18 points, grabbed 10 boards and dished out seven assists. Gray also contributed a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Colorado kept it close the entire game, and Coach Linda Lappe had her team playing their strongest basketball at the end of the season. Jen Reese led the Buffs with 16 points, and Lexy Kresl added 11. Reese and Kresl alongside fellow Senior Jasmine Sborov played their last game in a Colorado uniform as the loss sees any postseason play out of the question for CU.
The Buffaloes finish the season with a 15-17 record, and Lappe will look to improve her team in the offseason to push for postseason play in the next season.
