Colorado Traps Beavers 68-65

Colorado upsets Oregon State in the Pac-12 Tournament

Andrew Fielding-USA TODAY Sports

The 2014-15 season hasn't always gone the Buffs' way, but Colorado topped No. 8 Oregon State in their most important game of their season, prevailing 68-65 over the Beavers.

Colorado advances to play in the Pac-12 Conference Tournament Semifinal, and they will face the winner of the Cal-Washington State game.

Senior Lexy Kresl opened the game firing on all cylinders as she scored 14 points in the first 10 minutes of the game.  The Buffs continued to play superb team basketball while facing waves of scoring bursts from Oregon State.

Kresl led CU with 19 points, and Jamee Swan had a large impact on the game with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  Swan and the Buffs' defense changed the complexion of OSU's offensive game with solid overall defense.  The Beavers were forced to shoot 31 three-pointers and only managed to make six.

Colorado gave Oregon State their fourth loss of the season, and Colorado will look to take the momentum from the win into their semifinal game tomorrow.  Coming in to the tournament Colorado faced a tall order in making the NCAA tournament by winning the entire Pac-12 tournament. But, with only two more wins needed Coach Linda Lappe will have her team believing they can win the whole thing.
