Colorado Stumbles In 59-46 Loss To ASU

Buffs can't overcome second half struggles

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Colorado played a strong first half against No. 10 Arizona State, but the Sun Devils broke open the game in the second half and won 59-46

The margin at halftime was only 22-21 in favor of Arizona State, but the Buffs couldn't cope with ASU's press defense in the second half.  Colorado finished with 19 turnovers which hampered their offensive output.

Lexy Kresl led the Buffs with 12 points and was the only player for Linda Lappe's CU to finish in double digits.  Kresl also tallied five rebounds and six assists.

The Buffaloes played impressive defense in the first half holding the Sun Devils to 22 points, but ASU notched 37 points in the second half and shot 43% from the field.

The loss drops the Buffs to 13-16 before they head into the Pac-12 Conference Tournament.  The conference tournament may well be the Buffs' last stand as they would need to win the whole the tournament to qualify for postseason play.
