Colorado Thwarts Arizona 81-69

Offensive output key for Buffs victory

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

Colorado controlled their game against Arizona straight from tip-off and held off the Wildcats for a 81-69 victory.  The Buffs took the lead one minute into the game and never surrendered their score line advantage.

"I like that we did enough to win down the stretch. I thought our offense really clicked," said Coach Linda Lappe.

Lexy Kresl led the Buffs in scoring with 20 points, but she went down with an injury late in the game.

"I thought she (Kresl) had a fantastic game in running our team from the point guard position and knocking down some shots," said Lappe.

CU had an impressive offensive output with four players scoring in double digits.  Jen Reese scored 19 points and Jasmine Sborov and Haley Smith scored 14 and 10, respectively.

The Buffs recovered after a hard fought 68-60 loss to No. 11 Arizona State.  With the win, Colorado improves to 10-11 on the season and 3-7 in conference play.on the road
