Linda Lappe's Colorado Buffs looked like they were going to snatch a victory away from home against a solid Washington team, however the Huskies outplayed the Buffaloes down the stretch and won the game 85-82.
Colorado came out of the gates storming on offense, and they were able to build a 42-35 lead going into halftime. Jamee Swan looked particularly sharp in the opening half for the Buffs, and she ended the game with 22 points, 11 rebound and six assists.
Washington turned around the game early in the second half as they went on a 15-2 scoring run. CU was able to reclaim the lead, but the Huskies star players Jazmine Davis and Kelsey Plum led their team to victory down the stretch.
Davis set the school record for career points in the game and finished with a game-high 25 points. Plum, the third leading scorer in the NCAA, finished with 23 points.
Lexy Kresl continued her good run of games as she totaled 23 points. Jen Reese also added 13 for the Buffaloes.
Foul trouble hampered Colorado for much of the second half as starters Haley Smith and Reese struggled to stay in the game. But, at the end of the game, Colorado was unable to execute their offense when they had a chance to tie up the game with under nine seconds remaining.
The Buffs will look to bounce back against Washington State on the road this Sunday.
