Beavers Drop Buffaloes, 75-63

Colorado has yet to string together two consecutive Pac-12 wins

USA TODAY Sports

Colorado women's basketball couldn't take advantage of the absence of Oregon State star Jamie Weisner, as the Buffs fell to the Beavers, 75-63.

"You've always got to give the opponent credit. I thought they did some nice things, they made plays, they really drove it at us in the second half and hit open shots," head coach Linda Lappe told AM-760. "But, no, I'm not impressed with our defense right now. It's what we should be all about and we're not right now and we've got to change that. We've got to become more of a defensive-minded team, so we can grind out games and win."

Colorado held the lead for much of the first 20 minutes, but the game's turning point came with under a minute to play in the first half. Lexy Kresl hit a jumper to tie the game at 31. Colorado proceeded to give up five points, in the final 49 seconds of the first half. All five points came from the charity stripe for the Beavers.

The Buffs never held a lead or tied the game in the second half. An Ashley Wilson three-pointer with 10:29 to play brought Colorado to within three points. Kresl also brought the Buffs to within three with a layup with under seven minutes to play, but Colorado simply wasn't able to stop the Beavers on the defensive end of the floor.

Arielle Roberson led the Buffs with 12 points. Jen Reese and Brittany Wilson each chipped in 10 points.

Colorado will play at Oregon on Monday at 6 p.m. MST.
