Colorado opens as 14-point favorite over UMass

The sports books are expecting a rebound at home for the Buffaloes.

Another season, another heartbreaking opening loss for the Colorado Buffaloes. Just like last season, the Buffs look to rebound against the Massachusetts Minutemen, although this year UMass will be heading to Boulder. Las Vegas oddsmakers installed the Buffaloes as 14-point favorites for the home opener, three points less than they were on the road in Foxboro last season. At most of the Vegas sportsbooks that number has already dropped to 13 or even 12.5 points.

Massachusetts, in the Mid-American Conference, finished last season with a 3-9 record, the first season with Head Coach Mark Whipple at the helm. The Minutemen did not play in week one and will be taking on Colorado for their season opener. At quarterback, senior Blake Frohnapfel returns after throwing for 267 yards and three touchdowns in last seasons contest. Not returning is WR/TE Jean Sifrin, who lit the Buffs up for two touchdowns in the Colorado win. Sifrin left early for the NFL after last years strong results.

While the loss to Hawaii was awfully disappointing it was still a road game at Hawaii on a weird night at a unusual time. Colorado will have an opportunity to show us that the opener was an aberration and not a true picture of this Buffalo team with a big win over the Minutemen.
