Texas, Texas, Texas. The Colorado Buffaloes have zero commitments from Colorado, zero commitments from California. That is unusual for a Buff roster that usually heavily pulls from those areas. Dig a little deeper, and the last region reveals itself as dominant. The Buffs had SIX commitments from Texas, and just added their seventh in Erick Conley.
Conley plays at Fort Bend Travis High School outside of Houston, Texas. The defensive linemen, who stands 6-3 and around 250 pounds, gained some notoriety as a top 20 prep defensive lineman in Texas his junior year. The Buffs offered, as well as CSU, Houston, and South Carolina.
Conley is an interesting case. Chris Wilson’s type of defensive end/tackle seems to prioritize stoutness, and Conley is definitely stout. He is comfortable playing inside and out and his tape shows that his long arms keep him clean at the line of scrimmage, similar to Mustafa Johnson. There is plenty of room for him to put on clean weight and he looks very skinny at 250 pounds.
