The Colorado Buffaloes are slowly building out the class of 2022 now that Karl Dorrell has his feet fully under him. Using an existing relationship and a great young coach in Brian Michalowski, the Buffs dipped into the Peach State to grab a rush end in Carlton Madden Jr.
Madden is the 2nd member of the 2022 recruiting class, and the 2nd linebacker (maybe) pledged so far. He plays at Cedar Grove high school in Ellenwood, Georgia, which recently sent Alvin Williams (also an OLB) to Boulder. The upcoming senior only has offers from Colorado and Kent State right now, but that will change as people get to see him play his senior year. The 6’4, 225 pound player is already seeing some big-time programs circling, and the Buffs will have to fight to keep his signature.
The only tape we have for Madden is from his freshman and sophomore year, as his junior year was cut short. From that tape, you can see he’s a lean athlete on the edge. If it’s true that he’s grown two inches since this tape and gained 20 more pounds, he is going to be a force on the edge. Madden knows how to hold the edge well, and Cedar Grove has some good, solid coaching. This is not a project commitment.
