Buffaloes land third Colorado recruit in 2021 Class

The local tour for Colorado Football continues. As usual, the flagship program for the state of Colorado is looking close before it looks far in its 2021 recruiting class. After picking up commitments from in-state ballers Kaden Dudley and Braylen Nelson to kick off the 2021 class, the Buffaloes locked in another Colorado high school star in Chase Penry.

Penry is currently one of the best players in Colorado playing for the best team in the state, 5A champion Cherry Creek High School. Cherry Creek has been very good to the Buffs in recent years. Chase would be the 8th bruin to join CU in the past 3 to 4 years. Chase has solid size for a wide receiver at 6’1 and just under 190 pounds, but he plays bigger than his size. He had interest from a bevy of P5 teams and offers from CSU and CU before he shut his recruitment down.

Chase reminds me a lot of recent Forever Buffs Nelson Spruce and Tony Brown on tape. He’s not too big, or too fast, or too strong, but he has a singular focus on the ball in the air, which lets him come up with catches and yards that he has no business snagging. He has efficient footwork, gets upfield in a hurry, and his long arms give him more size than you would expect. He can play inside or outside and should contribute right away, on special teams at the very least.

Welcome, Chase!
