Colorado football adds Louisiana speedster

This man ran a 4.32 in Boulder, so CU signed him up

NCAA Football: California at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

This story is the beauty of camp season. Gavin Holmes is not a huge prospect. He lives is Metairie, Louisiana, which is not a recruiting hub, and he is a little undersized for his age. He has offers from the smaller in-state schools, like Louisiana-Monroe and Nicholls State, but he has largely flown under the radar. Then Holmes came to Boulder for a football camp, ran a 4.32 40 yard dash, and left with an offer. Now, he is committed to a P5 school from out-of-state, thanks to his talent and some exposure.

Holmes is a smaller prospect that will likely factor in at CB at the college level. He stands at 5’10 and a skinny 150 pounds, and he just runs. He tracks the ball well in the air, and he can move his hips well to stick with anybody. As for returns, he can take anything to the house. Just watch the second play in his highlight tape. It looks like it took him five steps to get to the end zone.

Welcome, Gavin!
