Despite having no previous coaching experience or playing experience in the state, ShaDon Brown is one of the country’s best recruiters in California. The Colorado defensive backs coach has scoured the state and found nothing but gems for the Colorado Buffaloes this cycle.
This time, the player is Maurice Wilmer. The 6’0, 205 pounder hails from St. Francis High School in Mountain View, California (part of the Bay Area). Wilmer had offers from Army, Air Force, Dartmouth, Columbia, and a host of MWC programs before deciding on Colorado. He has one of the most understated offer lists in the class, but don’t let that fool you. He’s a player and he will grow into one hell of a safety/buffbacker/linebacker.
Immediately, he shows some impressive physicality on film. All of his hits are pretty big, and show nice form as well. He is not just a missile. As a safety prospect, he shows well. Besides just the hitting, he tracks the ball and the quarterback’s eyes well, and the Ivy League and service academy offers indicate some book smarts. Let him fill out his body and he’ll play smart, fast, and physical.
I just want to say thank you to my familly and St. Francis for helping me get to this point in my life. Thank you to all the schools that have given me the opportunity to play. I’m proud and happy to say that I’m commiting to the University of Colorado Boulder. SKO BUFFS #SIBN pic.twitter.com/j8TqJJ65pw
