There is no better demonstration of Mel Tucker’s recruiting prowess than Marvin Ham. The newest member of the Colorado Buffaloes was committed to Boston College for the better part of a year, but within a week, Tucker got him to visit Boulder, and as is often the case with people that visit Boulder, Ham decided he wanted to stay a while.
Ham played at Belleville High School in Michigan. He represents a renewed in the state, with he and Jaren Mangham hailing from MI (with another possibly on the way). A 4-star recruit according to 247, he confusingly has no offers from Michigan State or Michigan, and is in fact lacking any offers from the Big Ten. Their loss is CU’s game.
Ham the athleticism to play immediately. The first thing that jumps out about his play is his sideline to sideline speed. Much like Devin Bush or Drew Lewis, Ham beats the offense to the edge every time. He can fly, especially at relatively short distances. He will need to bulk up some in college, but his athleticism demands early playing time, especially on special teams. A linebacking corps that Nate Landman flanked by speedy devils like Marvin Ham and Davion Taylor is a scary thought indeed.
