National Signing Day 2019: Surprise! Jashua Allen is a Colorado Buffalo

A long-time commit reaffirms and signs on

NCAA Football: California at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Another pleasant surprise for the Colorado Buffaloes! It’s time to talk about Ross Els potentially being a top 5 JuCo recruiter in the country. The man knows how to find talent early and hold on to them while they blow up. Last year, Davion Taylor was an under-the-radar gem before everyone came calling. Els held on for dear life and now Taylor is starring in a defense made for him. An almost mirror story occurred with Jashua Allen.

Allen, now rated as a 4 star and a top 10 JuCo LB in the country, was a running back for most of his career until a late switch during the season at Riverside Community College uncovered his talent. Allen realized he was really good at hitting people and he did it a lot. Through a combination of Coach Chiaverni’s California junior college connects and Els’ doggedness on the recruiting trail, he ended up committing to the Buffs. There is some academic issues to work through, but he should be ready to play at CU for the 2019 season.

Allen is over 6’ and 220 pounds, so he is solidly built. His aggression towards the ball is really remarkable. He launches like a missile towards the ball carrier, be it QB, RB, WR, or TE, and doesn’t stop until the play is dead. He is expected to play immediately, and with Rick Gamboa and Drew Lewis graduating, the opportunity is there.

Welcome, Jashua!
