National Signing Day 2019: Alec Pell is a Buff

The hard-charging LB from Denver signs on

NCAA Football: Oregon State at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Cherry Creek has been good to the Buffs over the years. Recently, studs like Jon Van Diest and Dimitri Stanley have come to Boulder from CCHS and played well. The school, especially under Dave Logan, is a D1 football player factory. Combine that coaching with natural athleticism and an instinct to hit and you get Alec Pell.

Pell, originally from Texas, has a football pedigree. At 6’3 and 230 pounds, Alec has a frame that fits a lot of positions, so he played a lot of positions. He lined up everywhere from RB to TE on offense and all along the front 7 on defense. He was committed to Boise State for a while, but once CU watched him play senior year, both the Buffs and Pell realized that they belonged together.

At the next level, he fits as a linebacker, either on the inside or outside. He is a violent player that chases the ball and its carrier with a Tommy Lee Jones like doggedness. He sticks out on tape with the impact that he causes every time he touches someone. Pell is just a football player, plain and simple.

Welcome, Alec!
