It’s gonna be a fun few weeks for Buff fans. Recruiting has seen an uptick recently, but now it’s going to go into hyperdrive. As early as today, CU will add some members of the 2017 class, especially on the defensive side of the ball. These are some big time recruits. Let’s take a look.

Committing this Friday July 14, 2017 #BBG#RepThaVillage
— Delrick Abrams Jr (@AbramsDelrickjr) July 11, 2017
Delrick Abrams is first up on the list. Abrams is a classic MacIntyre defensive back: he’s long, mean, and plays press coverage. Currently, he plays at a JuCo in Texas, and has been tabbed as a potential JuCo All-American. He has cut his list down to three schools: Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, and Colorado. For a junior college prospect with 2 years left to play, that is a serious offer list and if CU lands him, the secondary will be solidified in 2018. This is a big-time recruit.

Tune in to 9 news this Saturday July 15th at 5:15pm where I will be announcing my commitment live @9Preps
— Dimitri Stanley (@Dimitri_114) July 13, 2017
Dimitri Stanley is a highly coveted local recruit. He plays both ways at Cherry Creek High School, and at 6’1 and 180 pounds, he plays at both wide receiver and defensive back for the Bruins. When the Buffs offered him, he had mostly local interest, but his offer list has grown. He is now choosing between CU, ASU, Nebraska, Cal, Utah, Kansas State, Iowa State, Louisville, Indiana, and a bevy of small schools offers. This comes as somewhat of a surprise, as he has pushed his timeline up. If we at Ralphie Report had to guess, we would say that he follows his dad and goes Buff.

Will be committing August 15th pic.twitter.com/QsCHhUjOUW
— Hasaan Hypolite III (@HypKing) June 27, 2017
Hasaan Hypolite is another national recruit for CU. The safety hailing out of Texas shares a name with fan favorite and awesome dude George “the Rabid Goldfish” Hypolite. Hasaan is a physical player that likes to hit and hit hard. He is between the schools above and will be taking a visit to Boulder next week (according to Scout). Hypolite would be a nice addition to the safety class.
Friday, July 21st:
I will be in Boulder on the 21st ✅
— Kahlef Hailassie (@YoungLeaf24) July 13, 2017
Kahlef Hailassie is another intriguing DB prospect. He earned a CU offer at a satellite camp and he is now visiting Boulder. Most of his current offers are from G5 schools in California and Mountain West schools but he is plenty good enough to play for the Buffs. He is long, physical, and a quick-twitch athlete. At safety, he shows good instincts over the middle of the field. He may commit in person when he visits.

L.J. Wallace is a summer ball teammate of Hailassie’s and is high on CU. As the above tweet shows, he has been repping the Buffs lately and has said that he favors them right now. After the Buffs offered, other Pac-12 schools followed. He now holds offers from Cal and Oregon State, with plenty other California schools interested. If you haven’t gotten the DB picture yet for CU, I’ll paint another for you. He is a rangy, physical DB with a lot of athleticism and quick-twitch instincts. He plays hard and fast.

The latest one if the biggest of them all. Calvin Avery is a blue-chip defensive tackle from the heart of Texas, so naturally everyone and their mother has offered. Look no further for evidence of CU’s recruiting prowess than the fact that the Buffs made his top 5 over schools like Arkansas, Florida State, Nebraska, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Washington. Those are some big name schools. Currently, Avery has not visited CU yet, but we’ll see if he squeezes one in before his commitment date. His is the total package as an interior defensive lineman, and while CU has a tough battle ahead of them for his signature, he is well worth the fight. A game-changing talent on the defensive line.
So those are some of the big recruiting dates to keep in mind. Check back with the Ralphie Report to get even more recruiting news and notes as the important days draw near.
