Good thing the scouts at Elite 11 are great at evaluating talent, because they are terrible at math. Blake Stenstrom, a CU commit, was one of only 25 quarterbacks invited to the Elite 11 finals. Even though they were two touchdowns off, this is a prestigious invite to a prestigious event.
Stenstrom is the first quarterback committed to the Buffs to receive an invitation since Cody Hawkins all those years ago. While he had to deal with his father’s misstep, Cody was a dang good QB and if Stenstrom can approach his production in college, CU is in good hands. A few stats from the Elite 11 website:
10 of the past 11 quarterbacks to have won the Heisman Trophy attended the Elite 11 Finals or an Elite 11 Regional.
34 of the top 44 NFL passers in 2015 attended the Elite 11 Finals or an Elite 11 Regional.
The first day of Elite 11 was June 2nd, and the event will end June 4th. After the first day, Scout mentioned Stenstrom as a QB who just missed the cut for the best performers of Day 1. All of this is great news for CU and great news for Stenstrom.
