The Buffs dipped into international waters, California, to snag their 5th recruit in the 2018 class. Joshka Gustav, the German transplant, has committed to the Buffaloes.
As a prep player, Gustav never gets off the field. He plays both tight end and outside linebacker, and should have a shot at playing either for the Buffaloes. He’s equally effective either way. At 6’3 and 220 pounds, he’s already well-built for the college game. German engineering.
His tape shows a BMW. Large, fast, and in control. On the offensive side of the ball, Gustav shows soft as strudel hands and stubborn unwillingness to go down. He runs well in the open field and uses his size to snag balls that would be otherwise uncatchable. On defense, he shines at setting the edge and chasing down ball carriers. His length reminds of Dirk Nowitzki and his physicality of super-German Ray Nitschke.
Gustav becomes the 5th member of this class, and the second out of stater. He also is the first California commit, which is a sign of things to come.
