Carson Wells signs with the Buffs!

The sleeper Florida LB makes it official

NCAA Football: Idaho State at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

There’s only one player from Florida in this cycle, and it’s a big one. Carson Wells, the under the radar linebacker from a small town in Florida, has officially joined the Buffs and this has the stamp of a Coach MacIntyre recruit all over it. Wells has all the tools you want, the attitude, and the body, but for some reason other schools didn’t see him. Well, CU’s gain.

Wells comes from Bushnell, Florida, which is above Tampa. A small town with a small football team, Wells stood out in more ways than one. At 6’3 and 220, he has a prototypical Power 5 linebacker body, but he was surrounded by less than Power 5 size and skill. He earned plenty of postseason accolades for his body of work, and it’s easy to see why. Also, he shares a name with Woody Harrelson’s character in No Country for Old Men, and that’s enough for me.

Wells stands out in those clips. He’s the biggest, fastest, and strongest guy in all of those tapes. He obviously has great size for a middle linebacker, and he attacks the ball aggressively. Wells has great size and looks like he can add even more muscle. Not much more to add about Wells based on his high school tape. It’s just utter domination.

Welcome, Carson!
