The past few years have seen the tight end position at CU struggle to get noticed. That is sure change soon, as Darrion Jones is hard not to notice.
.@GaryBernardiCU on Jones: “He is a big, tall and fast athlete. Because of his height and speed, he adds another dimension to our offense.” https://t.co/ECWBNRC535

Jones is coming to Boulder out of Los Angeles Harbor College with two years to play two. While CU doesn’t like to take JuCo players with only two years left usually, Jones is a worthy exception. He plays a position of huge need at tight end, and his skill is very enticing.
Jones stands at a full 6’6 and a robust 250 pounds. He is an imposing figure, and his size will cause matchup problems. It also suggests that he will be just fine as an inline blocker. But his real skill is how surprisingly quick he is with the ball. The first play in his highlight tape shows that he can run away from secondary players, a scary proposition given his size. Split him out in the slot, release him from the line of scrimmage, or take him out wide, he is a nightmare for the defense.
Welcome, Darrion!
