Another big bodied linebacker decided to pledge to the Buffs tonight, as Carson Wells announced his commitment. Wells is the first CU commit from Florida (Dante Sparaco is technically from Colorado, as he just transferred to a Florida high school for one semester) and he brings some of that famous Southern speed to his position.
Wells always plays in control and aggressive, moving towards the ball quickly and in position. He consistently blows up double teams (against suspect competition) and displays a nice bull rush, locking arms well and churning his feet. He's very aware of the play develops and flows towards the ball with ease. He has great straight-line speed (as evidenced by the tweet) and his short area quickness looks to be there. Leavitt loves to take high school OLBs and move them inside, and I wouldn't be surprised if Wells becomes another one of his projects. At the very least, he will be a fantastic special teams gunner for his first part of eligibility.
Welcome, Carson!
Went to camp at CU and won fastest man and then had rivals guys all over me funny how that works
