Four-star Tennessse quarterback transferring to Colorado

Sheriron Jones will sit out one year and have three years to play three.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Some surprising news for a Thursday afternoon as 247Sports has reported that redshirt freshman Tennessee quarterback Sheriron Jones will transfer to Colorado after he redshirted this year at Rocky Top. Some of you may remember the name Sheriron from when the Buffs heavily recruited him two years ago. CU was a brief favorite, then when the SEC schools came calling he focused his attention eastward. Now, it appears he's coming back to Boulder for good.

Jones was a 4 star dual threat quarterback out of Rancho Verde, California, and will have three years of eligibility left. An interesting thing to note here is that he is not the same class as Sam Noyer, the current 2016 Buff commit, or Davis Webb, the Texas Tech grad transfer that CU has been linked to. Welcome, Sheriron!

HIGHLIGHTS

Jones, a four-star recruit, was ranked as the nation's No. 7 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 34 prospect in California in the 2015 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.
