Utah linebacker Pookie Maka commits to Colorado

The fifth rated player in the state of Utah has decided to come to Colorado

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Today Colorado added another member to the 2016 recruiting class with the commitment of Utah outside linebacker Pookie Maka. Maka is a big get for defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt, who was his primary recruiter.

Maka, of Cottonwood Senior High in Salt Lake City, committed following his official visit to Boulder this weekend. Maka is the fifteenth verbal in the 2016 class and the fifth on defense.

Welcome aboard, Pookie!

Notes: From Rivals: "He is just so fast and Coach Leavitt just loves his hips," Tidwell said of Maka. "He just has the stuff that you can't coach and Coach Leavitt sees the potential in being able to coach him up and sees him being able to make a huge impact. Pookie could really benefit from the structure of college where he is fed every day and is on a nutrition plan and is in a good weight lifting program. The guy is just going to balloon while keeping his speed"
