What was shaping up to be a somewhat uneventful end to the 2014 recruiting class for the Colorado Buffaloes a few weeks ago has now gotten a major, major boost with the verbal commitment of California wide receiver Shay Fields. After decommiting from USC with the coaching transition Fields had narrowed down his choices to Colorado and California before making his decision.
Fields finished his senior season with 1,617 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns playing for St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California. With the departure of a Paul Richardson and a relatively young and inexperienced wide receiver unit Fields will have the opportunity to play and make an impact from day one. This is a great get for coaches MacIntyre and Troy Walters. With the commitment of Fields, 2015 verbal N.J. Falo and last weekends visit from Kalen Ballage the Buffaloes finally seem to have a bit of recruiting momentum going.
Welcome aboard, Shay!

Position: Wide receiver Other Schools of Interest: Boise State, California, Hawaii, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, TCU, USC, Utah Status: Verbal to Colorado Fields, who finished with 1,617 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in his senior season, was also impressed by the new Colorado coaching staff's track record. They turned around a doormat San Jose State program and look to do the same thing in Boulder.
