Pac-12 Conference releases weekly pairings for 2018-19 men’s basketball season

Colorado opens up Pac-12 play on the road in the desert.

The Pac-12 announced the weekly conference matchups for the 2018-19 men’s basketball season on Monday with specific dates and times yet to be determined.

Colorado opens their conference schedule on the road in against Arizona and Arizona State in the first week of January 2019. The Buffs enjoyed back-to-back wins against the No. 4 ranked Sun Devils and No. 14 ranked Wildcats to open last year’s home conference schedule. It was a rare feat considering the Buffaloes have only notched back-to-back wins three times against ranked opponents in the past 35 contests going back to Nov. 7, 2013.

CU welcomes Washington and Washington State into the newly renamed CU Events Center the following week, Jan. 9-13, for next year’s Pac-12 home openers. This marks the earliest the Buffaloes will play the Huskies and Cougars in a season since joining the Pac-12 conference in 2010-11.

The Buffs are on the road for five of the first seven games of the season starting midway through January. The advantage will be CU hosting a majority of their schedule down the stretch going into early March and end the regular season by hosting UCLA and USC.

According to CU athletics, “The Bay Area and Oregon schools are Colorado’s one-time opponents this season, the second and final year of that rotation. Stanford and California will not come to Boulder while the Buffaloes skip the trip to Oregon and Oregon State. The Beavers and Ducks visit Boulder to round out the first half of the league schedule, the first week of February.”
