With the announcement that Colorado will take on the Auburn Tigers on Monday, November 17 at 11 p.m. MT on ESPN2 as a a part of the ESPN Tip-Off Marathon the Buffaloes have now released their full non-conference schedule. Outside of the match-up against Bruce Pearl and Auburn and the game against the Rams the home schedule is... well, it's not very good.
The Buffs have road games against Wyoming and Georgia and the Diamond Head classic before beginning conference play.
The CU/Auburn match up will be the second ever meeting between the two programs, and first in 18 years. They last met 18 years ago on December 29, 1996 at the Big Island Invitational (Hilo, Hawai'i) with CU taking a 78-72 overtime victory. The Tigers are coached by former Tennessee head coach/basketball analyst Bruce Pearl. Pearl begins his first year with Auburn and takes over a program that went 14-16 last season.
"The 24-hour hoops event gets the college basketball season kicked off," fifth year CU head coach Tad Boyle said. "Anytime you get a chance to be on the ESPN Network, it's nothing but good things for your program and it's an opportunity for us to showcase the atmosphere of the Coors Events Center. A lot of people saw last year in the Kansas game, now we can show it in a different light.
"Hopefully our students will come out in force; it's going to be a late game and a little unusual, but again, hopefully we can get our season kicked off on the right foot."
