The Mayor is heading to Detroit to try and rekindle the magic that another former Buffalo point guard previously brought to the Motor City. Spencer Dinwiddie has been selected with the 38th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, becoming the third Colorado player since 2011 to be selected (Alec Burks, Andre Roberson).

The Detroit Pistons finished the 2013-14 season with a .354 winning percentage, good enough for 11th in the East. It was their fifth straight season with a winning percentage under ,400 and led to the dismissal of former head coach Maurice Cheeks and team president Joe Dumars. Stan Van Gundy will be Dinwiddie's new head coach and is also the Pistons president.
Brandon Jennings and Will Bynum are the point guards who saw the most minutes last season and Dinwiddie steps into a situation where he will have an opportunity to make an impact as soon as he is healthy and ready. All in all it's a pretty good situation and Van Gundy is an excellent coach to learn from, especially in a rebuilding season. Another great Buffalo is in the NBA and I know we all couldn't be happier for Dinwiddie.
More to come soon. Congrats, Spencer!
