2014 NCAA Tournament: Colorado earns a eight seed, will take on Pittsburgh in Orlando

The Buffaloes have made the NCAA Tournament for a third straight year.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

It's official! The Colorado Buffaloes are back in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season after earning an 8-seed in the South Region. They will kick off the tournament on Thursday against the nine-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers of the ACC (still sounds weird saying that).

Pitt finished the season at 25-9 overall and 11-7 in the conference. They lost in the semi-finals of the ACC Tournament 51-48 to eventual champion Virginia. The team is led by senior forward Lamar Patterson who finished the season averaging 17.6 points per game and almost 5 rebounds.

The South Region is absolutely brutal with overall No. one seed Florida, Kansas, Syracuse and Pac-12 Tournament champion UCLA all in the region. Joining UCLA and Colorado in the region from the Pac-12 are Stanford taking on New Mexico.

The Buffs are back in the tourney. We'll break things down further later this week, now we celebrate!

Let's go Buffs!
