6 foot 7 SEC quarterback commits to Colorado

The Buffs gain some crucial depth behind Shedeur

Lost in the madness of all of Sunday’s transfer news, one new addition to the Buffs flew a bit under the radar. Former Vanderbilt quarterback Walter Taylor announced that he’s transferring to play at CU, per Hayes Fawcett on Twitter.

While Colorado doesn’t currently desperately need a quarterback because Shedeur Sanders is undoubtedly going to start in 2024, the Buffs need a solid backup plan in case Shedeur gets hurt again. Taylor’s massive 6 foot 7 frame makes him a massive asset for CU, adding more size to Colorado’s room. If the Buffs need to pick up a couple of inches for a first down next season, we may see Taylor try to pick them up via the tush push.

Taylor is the second Commodore to jump ship from Vanderbilt to Colorado in less than a week, as wide receiver Will Sheppard will also be joining the Buffs in 2023. While Taylor’s stats from last season don’t jump off the page, a fresh start in Boulder may be exactly that the sophomore needs to jumpstart his college career.

Welcome to Colorado, Walter!
