Sophomore quarterback Brendon Lewis announced Tuesday morning that he would be entering the transfer portal. He started the first game of the 2022 season, but has recently been pushed to third on the depth chart behind sophomore transfer J.T. Shrout and freshman Owen McCown.

Lewis graduated a semester early from high school and played in the Alamo Bowl game against Texas in 2020. He threw for 95 yards while rushing for 73 and a touchdown in the 23-55 loss.

He started all 12 games of the 2021 season, leading the Buffs to a 4-8 overall record. Lewis threw for 1727 yards in his career at Colorado, including 1540 yards during the 2021 season.

Throughout his two and a half years in Boulder, Lewis threw for 10 touchdowns while averaging just over 115 passing yards per game. He also averaged 20.3 rushing yards per game and rushed for three touchdowns as a Buffalo.

Lewis played in less than four game thus far this season, which will allow him to redshirt his sophomore year. He will enter his new school with three years of eligibility remaining.
