Colorado interim head coach Mike Sanford is reorganizing after the firing of Karl Dorrell, making several title changes to the Buffaloes coaching staff.
Chris Reinert and Jeff Smart are now assistant coaches. The former quality control specialists will have enhanced roles. Reinert will be the Special Teams Coordinator and Smart will oversee CU’s linebackers along with Mark Smith. Also, offensive line coach Kyle DeVan will add run game coordinator to his coaching duties, working in tandem with Darian Hagan to boost production out of the backfield.
The moves by Sanford are the latest shake up at CU after the bye week. It was previously announced Clay Patterson will serve as the Buffs offensive coordinator and Gerald Chatman as the defensive coordinator. Chatman replaces Chris Wilson, who was fired shortly after Dorrell.
Sanford takes on interim duties and will remain involved with the QB position as well. He came to Boulder with six years of experience as an offensive coordinator with stops at Notre Dame, Boise State, Utah State, and most recently Minnesota.
Colorado’s first game post-Dorrell comes on Saturday at home against Cal. Kickoff is scheduled for noon with coverage on the Pac-12 Network.
