On the latest episode of the At the Buzzer podcast, Jack Barsch and Sam Metivier break down a busy week of offseason news.
The biggest news is the significant knee injury to JT Shrout, the Tennessee transfer who was competing for the starting quarterback position. His injury will elevate freshman Brendon Lewis to the top of the depth chart and leaves just two other scholarship QBs on the active roster.
Later on, we preview Ralphie Report’s positional break downs, written by the Jacks on staff, Barsch and Carlough. There’s a lot of talent on the defense, but the depth is not there and the defensive line is getting mowed over in camp. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything, other than Jarek Broussard is healthier and more explosive than ever before.
Finally, we talk about Tad Boyle taking the kids to Costa Rica, where his freshmen-heavy lineups laid waste to the finest basketicos (they literally played a law school lol). We can’t glean too much from those games, but a few trends are emerging, including KJ Simpson being an elite talent.
