Alec Burks stars for Knicks in NBA Playoffs

The Buffs legend is shining bright

Alec Burks is thriving right now. The Colorado legend is starring for the New York Knicks in their first playoff appearance since 2013.

Burks reminded the NBA world of his scoring ability when he put up 27 points (on just 13 shots!) in Game 1 of the First Round. The Hawks won the first game, 107-105, but if the Knicks can get this version of Burks, plus the version of Julius Randle we saw all season, they could pull it out.

Burks spent the first seven years of his NBA career with the Utah Jazz, but after numerous leg injuries took away his explosive athleticism, he became something of a journeyman. From the start of 2018 to 2020, Burks played for six different teams, constantly being traded from one would-be contender to another, never finding the right home.

Now with the Knicks, Burks may have finally settled into his NBA home. He’s now a veteran scorer and playmaker, and despite having shooting struggles early in his career, he’s grown into a steady 40% three-point shooter. Everything has come together and he’s never been more valuable to his team’s success.

Basketball is always more fun with the Knicks winning. It’s even more fun when our Forever Buff is playing an integral part of their success. We can hope for the Knicks to win their series, or for Burks to put 20+ points every game, just to keep this success story going.
