Colorado Buffaloes legend Chidobe Awuzie has signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Awuzie will join the Bengals after four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. Drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, ‘Chido’ started 42 games in 46 appearances. He was consistently good when healthy, but that was his main issue in Dallas. He suffered hamstring and other leg injuries every season of his career.
Cincinnati has signed Awuzie to be an impact starter on an improving defensive backfield. He will be expected to start opposite the underrated William Jackson III, with safeties Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell behind them.
Also of note, Nate Solder has re-signed with the New York Giants after announcing he will return from a COVID-related sabbatical. Phillip Lindsay received a late-round tender from the Denver Broncos, potentially signaling him leaving, as his hometown clearly does not value his contributions.
