The award voted on by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and presented by the Charlotte Touchdown Club has recognized college football’s top defensive player since 1993. No CU player has won the award. Matt Russell was a semifinalist during his senior season in 1996.
Landman, one of the Pac-12’s top linebackers, returns to Boulder with back-to-back 100+ tackle seasons and was the sixth Buffs players to eclipse 250 total tackles. He has played in 35 career games with 24 career starts on a CU team returning four starter on defense in 2020. Landman has 277 career tackles (25 for a loss), 12 pass breakups and three interceptions.
As the schedule stands currently, Colorado welcomes Oregon into Folsom for the 2020 season opener on Sept. 26. With the challenges of Covid-19, the Pac-12 announced a conference-only revised schedule on July 10.
