Colorado Buffaloes ranked 21st in AP Poll

The Buffs dropped the game to UCLA, but weren’t punished too much.

NCAA Basketball: UCLA at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Buffaloes have dropped from 18th to 21st in the latest AP Poll. This follows the close win over USC and the brutal loss to UCLA, which by all means was not a good week for Colorado basketball.

The Buffs didn’t fall much in the rankings because everyone else lost too. Of all the teams between #16 to #25, only #20 Iowa and #23 BYU survived unscathed. It was hard for the Buffs to fall in the polls with everyone else falling with them.

It was a choatic week for the top teams as well, as #1 Baylor, #2 Gonzaga, #4 San Diego State, #6 Duke, #7 Maryland and #9 Penn State (twice!) all lost. Kansas is the new #1, while Dayton climbs to #4.

The Pac-12 has a strange feel to it right now as five teams have a shot at the conference title, yet only #14 Oregon and #21 Colorado are in the rankings. Arizona dropped out after losing to Oregon and Arizona State is unofficially 26th after winning their seventh game in a row. UCLA can still hypothetically win the Pac-12 regular season and not make the NCAA Tournament.

The full Top 25 goes as follows:

  1. Kansas Jayhawks
  2. Baylor Bears
  3. Gonzaga Bulldogs
