We knew this was coming, but it hurts just the same. Another coach has left the Colorado Buffaloes coaching staff, this time Ross Els following Mel Tucker to Michigan State, per Adam Munsterteiger.
Ross Els is leaving the #CUBuffs' staff. He had served as the #Buffs' inside linebackers coach since February of 2017, and had the title of special teams coordinator added last winter.

Els will be joining as the new linebackers coach at Michigan State. He is the third assistant to follow Tucker, after offensive coordinator Jay Johnson and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic left for similar roles.
Like Kapilovic, Els will be sorely missed as an assistant and recruiter. As the inside linebackers coach, he developed Nate Landman into a star, most notably, and helped Akil Jones break out in 2019. He also recruited 2020 commit Mister Williams, the lone inside linebacker in the class.
Els previously coached at Purdue and Nebraska, so this is perhaps a natural move for him back to the Big Ten.
