As if the Colorado Buffaloes haven’t had enough departures, sophomore quarterback Blake Stenstrom has entered the transfer portal, per Chris Hummer of 247 Sports.

Stenstrom is a local kid from Highlands Ranch who starred at Valor Christian. As a dual-threat QB, he was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and a 3-star by 247 Sports. The Buffs were looking at Colorado natives to start at QB — something of a rarity — it was going to be Stenstrom or Ty Evans, but the latter transferred to NC State after Mike MacIntyre (and Kurt Roper) was fired.
Stenstrom didn’t get much playing time in his redshirt freshman season. He attempted just three passes all season and had one rushing attempt. Those limited opportunities only came after backup quarterback Tyler Lytle was injured in a relief effort.
Lytle is the likely successor to Steven Montez, although incoming freshman Brendon Lewis could steal the starting job. If Stenstrom was behind Lytle, and if Lewis is better than him (he is, imo), it makes sense he would transfer for a better opportunity.
