A little absence makes the heart grow fonder. Trustin Oliver was originally supposed to sign to the Buffs last year, but life got in the way and he ended up at a community college. Now, a year older, wiser, and bigger, Oliver signed with the Buffs and he will play right away.
Oliver, from Iowa by way of Colorado by way of California, is familiar to the CU staff. He’s now 6’4 and over 200 pounds, which puts him at safety. Or STAR. Or linebacker. Who knows? He’s still going to play.
Jeff Hauser did a great interview with Oliver when he committed, and here’s a small excerpt:
“I am big on loyalty. I feel if someone paid that to you, it must be returned,” Oliver said about the coaches at Colorado. “Not that I always felt it would be CU, but I felt being in Boulder was the best situation for me. Also, knowing the passion and enthusiasm coach Dorrell, coach Martin, coach Maxie and coach summers showed during this pandemic was monumental for me. Two minutes before making my announcement to Colorado, I received a text from one of my coaches at Iowa Western that Oregon wanted a copy of my transcript. Still didn’t change my mind one bit.”
A big playmaker in the secondary, and physically imposing
