The Colorado Buffaloes are undefeated no longer, but they still find themselves in the top 25 of the College Football Playoff rankings.
The Buffs debuted at #21 last week, but dropped to #25 after their loss to the Utah Utes on Saturday. That loss — a second half defensive collapse following Nate Landman’s injury — ensured the Buffs would finish second in the Pac-12 South behind USC with a 3-1 conference record.
Colorado may not play until bowl season. They were supposed to play the Oregon Ducks this coming weekend, but the Ducks moved into the Pac-12 Championship to replace the Washington Huskies due to virus issues. Colorado is in Los Angeles ready to replace USC should they have their own outbreak.
The Buffs may not schedule a replacement game if things remain as they are. The Pac-12 wants them to stay in L.A. as a break-in-case-of-emergency option, which limits what the Buffs can do.
