Podcast: Colorado basketball recruiting, football winning

Great week for the Buffs

NCAA Football: UCLA at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

On the latest episode of the At the Buzzer podcast, Jack and Sam break down the Colorado Buffaloes 2021 basketball recruiting class, possibly the best in school history, and how that affects CU hoops moving into the future.

Later on, we dissect what went right and what went wrong in CU’s 48-42 win over UCLA. We go over defensive weaknesses, such as blown coverages and having true freshmen playing cornerback. Then there’s the terrific debut from Jarek Broussard at running back, what the offense looks like with Sam Noyer at QB, and how Darrin Chiaverini has improved as play-caller.

Lastly, we preview the upcoming CU vs. Stanford game on Saturday (1:30 p.m., ESPN). The Buffs began as 8.0-point underdogs, but the advanced stats favor them to make it a closer game or even win. The Cardinal will pose certain issues, but their own weaknesses are exploitable if CU plays as well as they did in Week 1.
